The Kentucky Senate primary is a battle between two visions for the Republican Party. The GOP Establishment wants to re-elect their moderate incumbent, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. The conservative grassroots are demanding a real conservative leader -- and Matt Bevin is that candidate. Kentucky has a chance to elect a real conservative to the United States Senate in 2014 -- businessman & former U.S. Army Captain Matt Bevin. Matt Hoskins, executive director of the Senate Conservatives Fund, notes that "Matt Bevin is a true conservative who will fight to stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are destroying our country. He is not afraid to stand up to the establishment and he will do what it takes to stop Obamacare." Matt Bevin also has strong support from conservative voters in Kentucky. The Boone County GOP Christmas gala straw poll, attended by nearly 700 Republicans, resulted in Bevin winning with over 80 percent of the votes against Mitch McConnell in the race for U.S. Senate. He has the support of Take Back Kentucky, United Kentucky Tea Party, Louisville Tea Party, Northern Kentucky Right to Life, Angela Minter, Executive Director Sisters for Life to name a few. As is the case when a GOP backed candidate is challenged, Bevin is no match financially against McConnell. This important Republican primary election is going to depend entirely on grassroots and volunteers. Even if you don't live in Kentucky, you can tell the GOP that you support real conservatives who will defend faith, family, and freedom. If you want your children and grandchildren to have a shot at educational freedom and a decent education, now is the time to act.
In an email to supporters, the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) sent out an urgent action item. We join them in urging you to call your senators and representatives and give them this message (or a paraphrased version): “I strongly oppose the Common Core standards, and do not want the federal government using federal funds to support this controversial program. Please sign onto the Grassley letter [if you are calling your senators] or Steve King letter [if you are calling your U.S. Representative] to members of the Appropriations Committee which urges Congress to end federal funds in support of the Common Core. States, not the federal government, should decide what is best for their education system.” The capitol switch board number is 202-224-3121. Take action to defend educational freedom! Remember Chick-Fil-A Day? Well it's back -- but this time, it's for Hobby Lobby, the craft store chain that could face fines of up the $1.3 million per day if its Christian owners don't comply with the federal "HHS Mandate" to provide contraception to employees in their health coverage. (Keep in mind that Hobby Lobby still covers, and would continue to cover, 16 out of 20 contraceptives.) Their case was argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, March 25. Now, you can join Americans across the nation in supporting Hobby Lobby by shopping in-store or online tomorrow, March 29! Please RSVP to this Facebook event hosted by Family Research Council Action as another way to show that you stand with Hobby Lobby! You can show your support for Hobby Lobby by using this photo for your Facebook cover! Right-click, save the graphic, and then upload it as your Facebook cover photo.
The Maine House of Representatives could vote anytime on an amendment that would allow citizens to carry concealed weapons without a permit. The original bill, LD 222, calls for changes to the permitting process, but the amendment would allow “Constitutional carry” or “permitless carry.” Residents of Maine who are not prohibited from owning firearms would be allowed to carry their firearms under their jackets, in their purses, or in their briefcases without obtaining permission from the government. Supporters of permitless carry contend that the Constitution should be the only permit required to carry a firearm. This is a great opportunity to defend and strengthen the 2nd amendment in Maine. Similar legislation failed by only one vote last year, so your Representative’s vote could be critical. Please call your legislators and ask them to support the permitless carry amendment to LD 222.

This amazing news comes right on the heels of a disappointing announcement yesterday by the Supreme Court that they would not hear the Romeike case. With this new announcement from the DHS, however, the case would have been unnecessary, and the Romeikes can stay in the United States.
Praise the Lord! It's primary time in Texas! Polls are open today until 7pm. We've endorsed four great conservative candidates: Greg Abbott for Governor, Ken Paxton for Attorney General, Katrina Pierson for Congress (TX32), and Konni Burton for Texas State Senate in District 10! Find your polling place here, and be sure to bring your photo ID! Greg Abbott for Governor Currently the Attorney General of Texas, Greg Abbott has been a tireless fighter for Texas families and conservative values. He has filed over two dozen lawsuits against the Obama Administration, fighting to stop Obamacare, rein in the EPA, and protect states' rights. His is one of the strongest voices for faith, family, and freedom, and can be counted on to continue his strong leadership as Texas' next Governor. Ken Paxton for Attorney General With General Abbott running for Governor, Texas needs a strong Constitutional Conservative to replace him in the Attorney General's office. That man is Ken Paxton. He has fought for conservative values as a State Senator and will continue to fight to preserve the Constitution, guard religious freedom, defend voter ID laws, protect the sanctity of life, and more. Katrina Pierson for Congress Congressman Pete Sessions has been in Washington too long and has lost touch with the people of Texas' 32nd Congressional District. In fact, he doesn't even live there - he's decided he likes Florida better instead. We need Katrina Pierson -- a passionate advocate for freedom who Ted Cruz has described as "an utterly fearless principled conservative." Konni Burton for Senate District 10 Senate District 10 may sound familiar -- that's the seat that pro-abortion Wendy Davis currently holds. But not for long! Even before Davis announced her run for Governor, grassroots conservative Konni Burton has been ready to do whatever it takes to take back Senate District 10. Burton is endorsed by Ted Cruz, as well as by many other conservative leaders in Texas.
Marriage is the foundation of society. The Bible has outlined what God intended the family to look like and this ideal is under attack. Under Senate Bill 1062 in Arizona companies could refuse to service gay couples for religious reasons. In several states businesses have had to make the decision between obeying God and obeying the law, this bill would ensure that that would not happen. People have stated that this is bringing back the old discrimination of the Jim Crow South, but let us look at what is really happening; Firstly being homosexual is a choice, unlike skin color. Secondly, most Evangelical companies have been more than happy to serve homosexuals -- and even employ them -- but they will not serve in their "weddings". The reason is simple, serving the person in an everyday capacity is not endorsing their lifestyle -- or helping them sin, but participating in a homosexual wedding is. This is a huge difference for a Christian. Participating, even in a paid position, in a homosexual wedding is helping someone do something that God defines as a sin. Helping someone sin is as bad as committing a violation of God's law yourself. In other words Christians believe that doing contract work for a gay wedding is sinning, since gay "marriage" defies God's natural order. For these reasons Freedom's Defenders encourages Governor Jan Brewer to sign Senate Bill 1062. Religious Liberty needs to be protected. To read about how this bill is being distorted click here. The United States House of Representatives Judiciary Committee will be holding a hearing on the President Obama's Unconstitutional use of executive authority tomorrow at 10:00 am.
