BREAKING NEWS!!! The Romeikes can stay!!! This amazing news comes right on the heels of a disappointing announcement yesterday by the Supreme Court that they would not hear the Romeike case. With this new announcement from the DHS, however, the case would have been unnecessary, and the Romeikes can stay in the United States.
Praise the Lord!

The Gang of Eight's immigration bill, S. 744, passed the Senate 68-32 on Thursday evening. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was the key proponent of the bill, while Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) led the fight against it.
The bill grants amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants already living in the United States, with some reservations such as criminal background checks. However Senator Cruz pointed out that "[t]he Gang of Eight bill promises border security later for amnesty today." Reports say Speaker of the House John Boehner stated in a closed door meeting that he will not bring the bill to the floor of the House. See how your Senator voted on the bill here. The US Senate will vote today on an amendment to the Gang of 8 immigration/amnesty bill. The amendment is 1,200 pages long and was filed just last Friday - this is another case of "pass it to see what's in it." From an email sent by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to supporters: "The Senate will vote today on the Schumer/Hoeven/Corker amendment to the Gang of Eight immigration bill, a "border security" amendment which doesn't require the border actually be secured. This legislation makes the same mistake of the 1986 amnesty — legalization today for the false promise of border security tomorrow. It will encourage more illegal immigration and must be stopped." Tell your Senators to vote NO on this amendment: (202) 224-3121 Sign the petition here. |
