Update: The Hearing was Postponed due to the shooting in DC This next Tuesday there will be a hearing on the Stand Your Ground Law, the popular state level law that was brought into question during the Zimmerman trial. The Judicial Committee's subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights will be holding the hearing. The hearing is entitled "'Stand Your Ground' Laws: Civil Rights and Public Safety Implications of the Expanded Use of Deadly Force.” Please contact the Senators in this committee and remind them that Stand Your Ground is common sense. The Members of the Subcommittee are Democratic Members Dick Durbin, Illinois (Chairman) Al Franken, Minnesota Christopher A. Coons, Delaware Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Mazie Hirono, Hawaii Republican Members Ted Cruz, Texas (Ranking Member) Lindsey Graham, South Carolina John Cornyn, Texas Orrin G. Hatch, Utah Thankfully, Republican hero Ted Cruz is the ranking member of this subcommittee. We can be assured that he will protect our right to self-defense.
