The Senate confirmed radical anti-American anti-Israel nominee Samantha Power to the position of United Nations Ambassador. The vote was 87-10 with three abstentions.
Those who voted against Power were: Lee (R-UT) Paul (R-KY) Rubio (R-FL) Scott (R-SC) Shelby (R-AL) Vitter (R-LA) Barrasso (R-WY) Cruz (R-TX) Enzi (R-WY) Heller (R-NV) To see the full voting record click here "As a long-time champion of human rights and dignity, she will be a fierce advocate for universal rights, fundamental freedoms and U.S. national interests," President Obama said in a written statement after the vote. Human Rights is not the issue on which the United Nations is to concentrate. As pointed out in the past, the UN should not be making law, even law with which the United States agrees. Top conservatives in the Senate voted against her nomination. Rubio had earlier forced Power to backtrack on statements made in the past during her confirmation hearings.
