Unacknowledged, the all-too-short hours of the night of October 5th silently morphed into the wee hours of the morning of Saturday, October 6th. The Google chat messages bounced back and forth, the sounds of keys being struck and mouses clicking reverberated around three sleepy houses in the Midwest. It was the dawn of a dream. Our dream. We didn't know then the scope of that dream, but one thing was certain: we wanted to make a difference. Somehow. Somewhere. Those were negotiable, but one thing wasn't: we wanted to make a difference now. And thus it began. Three teenagers in Michigan and Indiana working frantically to get a website launched before the self-imposed deadline of October 6, 2012 -- one month before the 2012 elections. Blog posts? Check. Election info? Check. Analytics set up? Check. State-by-state information pages? That was another story, and they kept us up until well past 1am. But eventually, we were satisfied. We hit the save button, and then settled down for a good, albeit rather short, night's rest. At least, that's what should've happened, in theory. In reality, we were too excited for that "settle down" part. A month or so of planning, website design, and research, and here it was: FreedomsDefenders.com was officially launched. It's been quite an adventure ever since then! Check out a few highlights in the slideshow below.
