The conservatives in the United States House of Representatives are not giving up. With a few days left to stop Obamacare from being implemented, the House is not budging. They have finally taken a stand against Obamacare. Earlier this week the House defunded Obamacare in the Continuing Resolution with almost all of the Republicans voting to defund the unpopular bill. Without the Continuing Resolution, the Government will all but shut down this Tuesday. The bill then went to the Senate, where Sen. Cruz spoke for 21 hours against the second cloture vote, which would allow Harry Reid to amend the bill. After he spoke, the first cloture vote was taken, which was approved unanimously on Wednesday. On Friday, September 27, the second cloture vote was taken by the Senate, and approved with 19 Republicans standing with Senator Cruz and two who did not vote. The Senators who voted with Cruz to defund Obamacare were: Crapo (R-ID), Enzi (R-WY), Fischer (R-NE), Grassley (R-IA), Heller (R-NV), Inhofe (R-OK), Lee (R-UT), Moran (R-KS), Paul (R-KY), Portman (R-OH), Risch (R-ID), Roberts (R-KS), Rubio (R-FL), Scott (R-SC), Sessions (R-AL), Shelby (R-AL), Toomey (R-PA), and Vitter (R-LA). The bill was then passed with a strict party line vote and sent back to the House of Representatives. Today the House of Representatives amended and passed a bill that, if passed by the Senate, puts a year delay on the unpopular "Affordable Care Act". It also repeals the HHS Mandate, which requires companies to provide coverage for abortion causing drugs. Representative Diane Black stated: “I think it is shameful that Senate Democrats continue to work the will of their party bosses and not the will of the American people. The message coming from across the country is clear: Americans want the government to stay open, but they don’t want Obamacare. The Continuing Resolution that passed out of the House today keeps the government open while delaying implementation of the President’s disastrous healthcare law. Anyone reading the news knows that Obamacare is not living up to its promises and is not ready for primetime. It is past time for the Senate to listen to the concerns of their constituents and pass this bill to keep the government open.” Senator Harry Reid has promised that the bill will not be passed in the Senate, and President Obama has vowed to veto it. The House has shown no signs of backing down and for good reason. As Senator Marco Rubio said, Obamacare is destroying jobs and the American Dream. When we pass bills such as ObamaCare, which claims to help people like this, we are not helping them. We are hurting them. If we hurt them, we hurt the country because there cannot be an America without an American dream. We can't be special and exceptional without the American dream, and that is what is being undermined by big government and by ObamaCare.
