Chuck Schumer: "I will vote to disapprove" Iran Deal

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, the No. 3 Democrat in the United States Senate, has announced that he will oppose President Obama's Iran Deal. 

In a statement, Sen. Schumer cited three main reasons he cannot support the agreement:

• The 24-day delay before the U.S. could inspect a site where Iran could be "illicitly advancing its bomb-making capability."
  
• The fact that "if Iran’s true intent is to get a nuclear weapon, under this agreement, it must simply exercise patience" -- he notes that in 10 years, Iran could still be significantly closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon.
• Finally, Sen. Schumer notes that Iran could "use the freed-up funds to build an ICBM on their own as soon as sanctions are lifted..."  and goes on to explain that they could -- while not violating the agreement -- achieve launch capability for an ICBM in 8 years.

President Obama has been lobbying hard to gain support for the Iran Deal in Congress, and the opposition of the No. 3 Senate Democrat is certainly a blow to the administration's hopes of passing this flawed agreement.
