CONSERVATIVE ACTIVIST 1: "Now that we have the majority, Congressional leadership must send an Obamacare repeal bill to the President's desk! Even if he vetoes it, we must move conservative legislation through Congress and lay the responsibility on the President for blocking it."
ENTER STAGE RIGHT: H.R. 3762 NARRATOR: "H.R. 3762 is a bill passed by both the House and Senate that takes major steps to defund Planned Parenthood and dismantle Obamacare." CONSERVATIVE ACTIVIST 2: "Don't be fooled, folks! This is a useless show vote by McConnell and the RINOs so that they can say they voted to repeal Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood, but they know it's just another fake show vote -- because President Obama will veto it!"

Ever since undercover videos were released that showed Planned Parenthood officials discussing the harvest and sale of the body parts of aborted babies, there has been a renewed push to defund Planned Parenthood. This push has rightly occurred in Congress and state governments, but another way you can help defund the abortion giant is by asking businesses to halt their support of Planned Parenthood. Alliance Defending Freedom lists 33 prominent companies that fund Planned Parenthood, along with contact information for each. Included in this list are businesses like Starbucks, Microsoft, Verizon Wireless, Bank of America, ExxonMobil, and Energizer. Here's what you can do:
For other ways you can take action to defund Planned Parenthood, including contacting your members of Congress, click here. In the aftermath of a shocking undercover video (see below) showing a Planned Parenthood official talking about selling the body parts of aborted babies, there has been a renewed push to defund Planned Parenthood by cutting the $500,000,000+ that the organization receives annually from the federal government.
What makes this push unique is that not only is the Republican base calling to defund Planned Parenthood, but congressional leaders are as well. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is leading the charge in the Senate, announcing that he will "demand a vote" to end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. So far four videos have been released and Planned Parenthood has learned the hard way that they may not be invincible. The first two videos showed two top Planned Parenthood officials negotiating a price with undercover reporters. The third video was an interview with a StemExpress employee. StemExpress is the company that buys organs from Planned Parenthood. Both the third and fourth video included footage of the extraction procedure of fetal organs. Planned Parenthood is currently arguing that they are only receiving compensation and not payment. The problem with this argument is that rather than charging a flat rate for the specimen (a.k.a. the corpse of a pre-born child), they are charging per organ recovered from the child. If StemExpress wants just the heart the cost is $75, but if they want the heart and the liver it is $150. StemExpress is in the clinic and does much of the extraction, they should not be charged per-organ. The videos are irrefutable evidence that Planned Parenthood is breaking the law. Remember Chick-Fil-A Day? Well it's back -- but this time, it's for Hobby Lobby, the craft store chain that could face fines of up the $1.3 million per day if its Christian owners don't comply with the federal "HHS Mandate" to provide contraception to employees in their health coverage. (Keep in mind that Hobby Lobby still covers, and would continue to cover, 16 out of 20 contraceptives.) Their case was argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, March 25. Now, you can join Americans across the nation in supporting Hobby Lobby by shopping in-store or online tomorrow, March 29! Please RSVP to this Facebook event hosted by Family Research Council Action as another way to show that you stand with Hobby Lobby! The new Democratic Governor and Senators took office last month and already they are undoing the pro-life progress of their predecessors. Under the leadership of a Republican Governor, Virginia had passed a ultrasound requirement for women considering abortion, because most women who see their baby choose life. With the change of leadership in the Senate came a renewed attack on this life saving law. The Senate voted 20-20 to repeal the bill with the Lt. Governor breaking the vote. Thankfully, since the House of Delegates is still controlled by the Republicans it is unlikely to go any farther, but we still ask that Virginians call their Delegate and ask them to vote against the repeal of the ultrasound requirement.
There were lots of people, and it was very cold. Those are the first things that come to mind thinking back on the 41st annual March for Life, which took place last week in Washington, DC. 650,000 Americans braved temperatures in the low teens to remember the tragic anniversary of Roe vs. Wade and to show that the pro-life movement is just as strong as ever. 650,000 Americans told Washington, DC, and all of America, that we stand for life. And hundreds of thousands more, unable to come, prayed and showed their support on social media. Several Freedom's Defenders team members attended the March, along with tens of thousands of young people who are hopeful and confident that our generation will abolish abortion. The strong presence of college and high school groups was a reminder to all attending and watching that we are the pro-life generation. Watch a great overview of the March from the Heritage Foundation below! Blog post by Peter B. First of 2014 - Marriage in Utah, Reince Priebus on March For Life, New Parental Rights Cosponsors1/7/2014 MARRIAGE IN UTAH: The US Supreme Court issued a stay on a December ruling by federal District Court judge Robert J. Shelby that would have forced the state to accept homosexual "marriage". The stay issued yesterday by the Supreme Court allows Utah's ban on homosexual "marriage" to remain in place while Judge Shelby's decision is appealed to the Tenth Circuit court. Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, released the following statement: "The Supreme Court has today signaled that it will not allow state laws defining marriage to be set aside by a lone judge without a careful consideration of the issues involved. The issuance of a stay is consistent with the Court's ruling last year in Windsor v. United States, in which they affirmed that states have the 'historic and essential authority to define the marital relation' and condemned federal efforts 'to influence or interfere with state sovereign choices about who may be married.'" MARCH FOR LIFE: On Sunday, news broke that Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is delaying the start if the GOP's winter meetings so that RNC members can attend the March For Life on January 22. The party will also charter a bus to transport committee members to the March For Life. Read the story in the Washington Times here. While we don't always agree with Chairman Priebus, we applaud this decision and hope that he will continue to show strong pro-life leadership as the chairman of the Republican Party. PARENTAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT: Over the Christmas and New Years holidays, the Parental Rights Amendment gained five new cosponsors, bringing the total number up to 70! Click here to see if your Congressman is on the list, and if they're not, give them a call and ask them to support parental rights!
As we approach the CHRISTmas season things begin to slow down, this last week has been no exception. Court Watch |
Mississippi has a chance to elect a real conservative to the United States Senate in 2014 - State Senator Chris McDaniel. From the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF): "This seat is currently held by Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS), a 34-year incumbent Republican with a record of supporting bailouts, more debt, tax increases, and funding for Obamacare... [A new poll] shows McDaniel trailing Cochran by only 6 points, which means he has closed the gap by more than 30 points since we polled in August." Not only that, but Senator Cochran still hasn't made a decision whether he will seek re-election. The SCF notes that "if Cochran has to face a strong, well-funded primary opponent, he will likely retire." Show your support for Chris McDaniel on Twitter and Facebook to tell Senator Cochran that Mississippi needs a real conservative. | Chris McDaniel supports: Defending Traditional Values Restoring the Constitution Eliminating Obamacare Defending States' Rights Securing our Borders Connect with Chris McDaniel: Join the campaign on Facebook twitter.com/SenatorMcDaniel twitter.com/CMForUSSenate |
